Spinal Disc Injury
Livingston Chiropractic Group treats Spine Disc Injuries - Decompression Therapy

I’ve heard it thousands of times: “I have pain in my back and it shoots into my leg.” “I can’t sleep or get comfortable because of the pain.” “My neck pain is so bad that it causes my arm to go numb.” “I can’t work anymore because the pain is so bad!”

What do you do when this happens to you?

Often times, you visit your primary care physician and he or she will prescribe you the common list of medications: anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, pain pills; or recommend oral steroids or injections to reduce the symptoms. They may even recommend a course of physical therapy, to address the loss of range of motion and muscle guarding that accompanies the condition.

But does that really address the CAUSE of the symptoms?

If you are suffering with neck or back pain, muscle spasms, and pain, numbness or paraesthesias in an arm or leg, chances are that you have herniated a spinal disc and pinched a nerve in the process. These conditions are debilitating and often lead to lengthy and ineffective courses of therapy, pain management, and surgery.

What else can be done??

For over ten years, I have been providing non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for patients who suffer with disc and nerve injuries, using spinal decompression therapy, coupled with nutritional support for the irritated tissues themselves. Decompression therapy provides gentle, axial unloading to the damaged discs and effectively helps to reduce the herniation or protruded disc material that has been irritating the spinal nerves, thereby removing the pinch and alleviating the pain!

There is another aspect to the decompression program, however, that I have found is crucial to its success, especially if the response to treatment is going to be long-lasting. That vital piece of the puzzle is NUTRITION.

Let me give you an example: if you are one of the millions of people who have osteoporosis (loss of bone density), you know that your doctor is going to most likely recommend that you get on a therapeutic regimen of calcium and vitamin D supplements because your bones are weak and the supplements will proactively help improve mineral absorption, which will strengthen the bones, and thereby eliminate the risk of unwanted fractures.

If you suffer with acute pain from spinal disc injuries such as protrusion or herniation, and have significant inflammation of the nervous system such that you suffer with ongoing severe pain in your arm or leg (sciatica), then nutrition for the discs and nerves is vitally important in order to speed the healing process! Medications play their role in reducing symptomatology, but in order to accelerate the healing process, nutrition provides the framework for the tissue to repair and stabilize, and also reduces the likelihood for re-injury. It is easy to perform, seldom interacts with any medications, and cuts the recovery time significantly.

So, if you are suffering and the pain is not going away with medications and other forms of therapy, call me today for an evaluation and see how to jump start your health and get on the road to recovery!
